Week 1: 7 pounds lost!

So I have decided to try and document my week. Some days will have more detail than others. But here you go!

I would have to say that for my first week of eating healthy and exercising I did very well and I am very proud of myself! I mean losing 7 pounds in one week is amazing! I know that won’t happen every week but it sure is a great start on this new journey. Not only am I losing weight but I am saving money by cooking my meals and just buying all of my food at the grocery store.

I really don’t believe in dieting or drinking any shakes or anything to lose weight because it’s not real life. Eventually you will want real food and that’s why I am loving this new way for me to get healthy. I want to get in shape and stay in shape and not worry about going back to the real world. I also want to save money and not spend money on extra diet stuff.

It also helps to have someone to keep you accountable and I have that! So here is my first week of my new life!

Monday, November 4th- So this is what I like to call the day where Brittanie finally decided it was time for a change. I wasn’t sitting around crying or anything. I literally just told a friend that I wanted to go to the gym and then she just started bossing me around and telling me what I should be eating and stuff. So Thanks Aviry! I also made the decision to buy a scale that day and it has been awhile since I had weighed myself. The good news was that I hadn’t gained any weight since January. Bad news, I still am the heaviest I have ever been in my life. But I didn’t cry, because I was now making the right choices to do something about this. I went to the grocery store and bought healthy food for the week. I decided that this was it, no going back. This time I want to really change and I want to be healthy. I won’t write what I ate or my workout because I ate badly that day and I didn’t workout. I did have veggies and ground turkey for dinner though.

Tuesday, November 5th- I decided to start going to the gym in the mornings and it was so hard getting up that day to go to the gym. My brain was telling me to just stay in bed, but I didn’t I got up, got dressed, and headed to the gym. I live about half a mile from the gym so it’s a nice little walk. Overall I didn’t want to die after my first real day of clean eating. I ate things that kept me full.

Meals:

Breakfast- Oatmeal and a Banana

Lunch- Greek Yogurt, String Cheese, and cucumbers with Vinegar

Dinner- Veggies with ground turkey (Delicious by the way)

Workout:

3o minutes of cardio

5 leg workouts

100 crunches

5 minutes of stretching

Wednesday, November 6th- Once again I made myself get up and go to the gym in the morning and I was so sore. That’s what happens when you aren’t in shape though. It’s a good kind of pain, it makes me feel like I am actually doing something. Now the hardest thing about this new healthy life style is eating correctly at work. Right now is our slowest time of the year so I just sit at my desk bored. It makes me want to mindlessly snack. But my cucumbers have been helping with that.  But this was once again a successful day and I ate healthy and worked out! Yeah!

Breakfast: Oatmeal and a Banana

Lunch: Greek Yogurt, Cucumbers, and string cheese

Dinner: Veggies and ground turkey

Thursday, November 7th- My body was still so sore, but I was getting used to waking up early and going to the gym. Even though I still woke up early I decide I would try going to the gym in the evening. I went, but I prefer going in the morning because then it’s done and if some last minute plans come up then I don’t have to worry about not making it to the gym. Another challenge happened that day. I forgot my lunch but I went to the store and bought a Greek yogurt, orange, and a pack of string cheese to keep at the office. If I had forgotten my lunch a week ago and just went next door to Subway and order an unhealthy sandwich, but I didn’t. So once again another successful day!

Friday, November 8th- Well today was the day that I would get tested with how I would order food when going out to eat. I ate breakfast and lunch like I normally do, but that night I would be eating at IHOP. My friend Josh was leaving for two months and this is where he wanted to do his going away dinner. When we originally made these plans I was super excited because I was going to order something really unhealthy to eat and IHOP has plenty of unhealthy items, but I was good and I order water and something from there small part of the menu that is under 300 calories. Was it the best thing I have ever ate in my life? Heck no! But it allowed me to go out with my friends and still be able to eat. I would say that is a successful night out!

Meals:

Breakfast- Peanut butter and banana smoothie

Lunch- Greek Yogurt, orange, string cheese

Dinner- 2 egg whites, 2 pieces of turkey bacon, fruit cup, and 2 pieces of wheat toast

30 minutes of cardio

3 leg workouts, 3 arm workouts

Saturday, November 9th- I was supposed to go to a dance class on Saturday but when my alarm went off by body just did not want to move and I didn’t think I could last through a 2 1/2 hour dance class, so I slept some more. I had a day planned in the city with one of my friends. We did so much walking that day. I didn’t go to the gym, but I still did a lot of cardio. Besides isn’t shopping the best form of cardio? I didn’t eat that great on Saturday. I still ate healthy but I didn’t eat enough, so I need to come up with a better plan when I go out.

Meals:

Breakfast- Peanut butter & banana smoothie

Lunch- nothing 😦 wah  wah

Dinner: Ground turkey and veggies, 1 piece of dark chocolate

Sunday, November 10th- I got up early on Sunday and went to the gym. I knew that the next day would be my weigh in day so I needed to burn as many calories as I could. Today would also be another test day because I was going to a birthday party later in the afternoon. I am so proud of myself because I didn’t eat any cupcakes or any bad food. The worst thing was probably the two cups of punch I drank, but I burned it off by playing in the gym with the little kids.

Breakfast- 2 egg omelet with 2 pieces of turkey bacon and 1 oz of shredded cheese. (Delicious)

Lunch- Meat sticks, fruit, and punch
