1 month down!

This post is going to be all over the place. I am basically just thinking out loud. 🙂

16 pounds and 14.5 inches in 1 month!

16 pounds and 14.5 inches in 1 month!

It’s crazy to think that it has already been one month since I started eating healthy and really working out. My hard work is paying off though! I can start to see it! I can say that sometimes it has been easy and sometimes really difficult. I never wanted to admit that I was addicted to food, but I now can admit that I was. When you grow up your whole life loving food and eating it even when you’re not hungry it’s going to be hard to break that relationship. I have been trying to train myself to eat only when I am truly hungry and to only eat foods that will contribute something positive to my body. But I also don’t believe in never eating anything that is bad for you. So it has been hard to find a balance, but so far I am doing pretty well!

I am excited to start trying new recipes because meat and veggies for dinner every night is starting to get a little old. 🙂

I have lost 16 pounds and 14.5 inches in a month and I couldn’t be more proud of myself. I did go a little crazy over this Thanksgiving weekend though, but today I am back on track and ready to kick butt again!

I was so full from all the food this weekend and I think my body didn’t really understand what was happening to it. Now that the next big holiday coming up is Christmas I am going to once again need to find a way to eat without hurting my stomach.

For the past 15 years or so I have been on so many different diets and I have never been able to stick to them and I think it’s because I never really wanted to do it. But something just clicked a month ago. All of a sudden I wanted it. I wanted to be in shape. I believe that I can do anything, but if my health is going to stop me from reaching my dreams of being a Broadway actress then I needed to do something about it. And I feel wonderful. I can honestly say that I am truly happy! I am more confident in my singing and acting abilities and that has made a huge difference in the songs I am working on.

Losing weight is hard and it is a constant battle, but we should never let anything control our lives. Once we realize that we are worth making the change it will make it easier. Also cook things that you like to eat. I have started to realize that I love vegetables and omelettes. Keep it interesting so you won’t get bored! I have been working out at the gym, dancing, workout videos, and doing workouts outside.

If I can do this so can you! Don’t wait until after the holidays, start now! You can still enjoy yourself but don’t over do it!

Thanks for all the support so far! There is no way I could have made it this far without the support of everyone!

5 Ways to Boost Up YOUR Mood

It’s been a rough week and I think it has to do with my body adjusting to my new diet. I haven’t had a diet coke in a while and I have cut down to basically no sweets. My mood has been up and down this entire week and I hate being in a bad mood, so I am going to do something about it. I am going to do 5 things to get my spirits up and I hope this will help you when your mood is in a funk.

The best way to brighten your day is to do things that make you happy, so I am going to share 5 things that have helped me turn my frown upside down.

1. Listen to some fun music.

I am currently listening to my Christmas playlist on Spotify because anything Christmas related is my favorite and those who know me understand how happy Christmas music makes me. Once my Michael Buble Christmas album started playing I instantly felt better. Now, you’re happy music doesn’t have to be Christmas music, but it does need to be upbeat, fun, and positive. No sad or slow songs!

Here are some examples of fun upbeat songs that will help boost your mood:

1. I Wanna Dance With Somebody Whitney Houston

(Most people know this song and it’s so fun and just makes you want to get up, dance, and sing along.)

2. Just Dance- Lady Gaga

(This is another dancing themed song I love. My favorite lyrics are “Just Dance it’ll be okay.” Sometimes we               just need to dance and let ourselves be free of whatever is weighing us down.)

3. We Found Love- Rihanna & Calvin Harris

(This song is so so much fun and the beat is so great. I promise it will instantly lift your mood.)

4. Strong (What Doesn’t Kill You)- Kelly Clarkson

(This song is so empowering. I love listening to it, especially when I am working out.)

5. Aw Naw- Chris Young

(I know not everyone likes country music, but this song is so much fun and once you listen to it, you will get hooked!)

2. Get Up & Have a 10 Second Dance Party!

I am being serious! I do this a lot. I love to dance. I just got up and from my desk and danced for 10 seconds and guess what I laughed at myself and I feel great! It doesn’t matter if you are a good dancer or not, just get up and move for 10 seconds to a fun song and you will love how it makes you feel. It’s okay to take out 10 seconds in our busy serious lives to be a little goofy.

3. Buy yourself something under $10!

I don’t care if you are a man or a woman, we all like to buy new things. I say keep it under $10 because we don’t want your bank account to be hurt by your bad mood. Do you need a new hat, scarf, gloves, or maybe you want a new album on Itunes? Treat yourself to something that you want and if you only spend $10 you won’t feel bad about the purchase later.  I am going to buy myself some new sparkly Christmas colored nail polishes and I can’t wait. I am feeling better just thinking about it.

4. Set a goal for today and complete it!

When we finish something we start it’s a great feeling. Set a goal that you can complete today and get going. Maybe you want to write a novel, but can’t seem to get started. Make a goal that today you will just write 5 pages of it and after you have written 5 pages you will probably have the inspiration to keep going. But you will feel great that you set out to do something and you completed it.

Today my goal is to do 1 hour of cardio tonight at the gym and I haven’t done an hour of cardio in a long time, but I am going to do it! I can’t wait to go to the gym tonight and burn a ton of calories!

5. Do something you love

I don’t care what it is, just do it. Sometimes I even get caught up in my busy schedule that I forget to take a moment and enjoy life. What’s the point in working so hard if you can’t take a moment and do something that you are passionate about. Do you love to take photos? Go on a ten minute walk and snap some photos of the pretty fall colors around you. Do you love to sing? Find a moment where you can just belt a song out at the top of your lungs and enjoy it! Or maybe you just want to call and talk to someone you love.

Today, when I get home I plan on singing a new song I am working on a few times before my roommate gets home! I can’t wait!

We will all be in a bad mood or in a funk every now and then but as soon as we find ourselves starting to feel that way we should try to boost ourselves up!

If you have any fun ways of getting yourself in a better mood, please share!!
